Introduction

The MK4 factory satellite navigation system found in MINIs and BMWs is an excellent system. The map disc can be modified to allow custom POIs, one of those being speed cameras.

Adding speed cameras to your MINI's factory sat nav system is no impossible task, and is widely documented online, most notably at Lupito's site.

Disclaimer

I have provided the files that require modifications (already modified) in order to display speed cameras on the MK4 BMW or MINI sat nav. You must own an original BMW/MINI/Navteq map disc, and make changes only to your disc. I do not provide:

  • the speed camera database as it is not free;
  • any files that may be of use without owning an original map disc;
  • applications that - free or not - belong to an author who does not wish for them to be distributed on sites other than their own.

None of the files provided below are of any use unless you own an original and genuine map disc. The files include the necessary amendments to original data to display custom POIs. The safety camera files must be purchased from Pocket GPS World (for example). The files below are not indexed on search engines so that this information has to be read and understood first. As with everything on this site, you use them at your own risk!

For a 2007-1 Map Disc

For a 2007-2 Map Disc

I do not own a 2007-2 map disc, and so am unable to make the files available. However, I gather that there is only one small difference.

  • 0079.IDX and 0080.URL are now in use, so these should be 0081.IDX and 0082.URL instead.
  • As a result of the above, you will need to change the references to these files in SF_CAMERA.HTM.
  • Similarly, you will need to change the reference to these files in ENG.LSC.

For a 2008-1 Map Disc

Believed to be the same as the 2007-2 disc.

For a 2008-2 Map Disc

Believed to be the same as the 2007-2 disc.

For a 2009-1 Map Disc

Believed to be the same as the 2007-2 disc.
